Description: An MS4 is a conveyance or system of conveyances (including roads with drainage systems, municipal streets, catch basins, curbs, gutters, ditches, manmade channels, or storm drains) that:is owned or operated by a state, city, town, village, or other public entity that discharges to surface waters of the State;is designed or used to collect or convey stormwater;is not a combined sewer; andis not part of a publicly owned wastewater treatment plant.The MS4 Drainage Areas represented in this data set include:areas served by separate storm sewers and separate stormwater outfalls owned or operated by the City of New York;areas served by separate storm sewers owned or operated by the City of New York that connect to combined sewer overflow pipes downstream of the regulator owned or operated by the City of New York; andareas where municipal operations and facilities drain by overland flow to surface waters of the StateThis data set includes drainage area ID, waterbody to which the area drains, and the pollutants of concern identified for that waterbody in Appendix 2 of SPDES Permit NY-0287890. This data set represents available GIS data as of August 1, 2020.
